Never knew what this was called until young Steptoe mentioned it (whilst ,holding a violin he'd picked up on his round and mocking his dad) when the very first Steptoe and Son episode was shown on one of the oldie channels.

This arrangement for orchestra is lovely! With such simple songs it seems very approachable for a decent community or youth group to perform.

Seeing the score here really shows some craft. Im studying it!LeroyAnderson was respected. I've heard his work before snd in the U.S. I imagine he received uninteresting commissions. This was fun and of course the crowd enjoys it.

My music teacher claimed the greatest composer for all time was Bach. At the time I disregarded the statement, believing it but not having faith in it. But damn, he was right.

I wonder how Franz Xaver modeled his compositions after, because while this sound a tad bit like his father it’s also very different, it’s quite technical with the scales and arpeggios, a little czerny like, what do you think?

Hummel was a great composer but as a human being he was an asshole - similar to Wagner - charging Adam Liszt one golden Charles coin to teach his son Franz, outrageous! (see Alan Walker's biography) Thankfully, Czerny taught him for free. Liszt never forgot that, teaching his students for free (unlike Chopin) and he never greeted or invited the descendents of Hummel in Weimar to any of his concerts.

Such a delightful piece. I could imagine a 2924 version with Daniil Trifonov, the orchestra of Santa Cecilia, Roma with J.Hrusa giving as breathtaking performance as their Gershwin Concerto in Berlin on the 14th in the Philharmonie.....😊
